Sheryll Murray has welcomed the announcement that six community transport companies within South East Cornwall have been awarded a new minibus after a successful bid to the Department of Transport.
Lanteglos, Lerryn Area, SR Training, Lanreath and Pelynt, Saltash Gateway and Maker With Rame community bus companies will each be provided with a new minibus as part of a £25 million fund set up by the Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin at the Department for Transport in November last year.
Sheryll Murray said, “Community Minibuses play a vital role in ensuring many of our rural communities can access transport. I am delighted that the Secretary of State for Transport has recognised the important contribution made by community mini buses and has invested in them.”
The community buses are used to transport people to and from local events, supermarkets and often take on routes that are not covered by commercial bus services.
